About Prairie Mountain News
Local News With a Purpose
We believe great communities are built on informed, engaged families — and that youth sports are the foundation of healthy, connected neighborhoods across South Alberta.
Prairie Mountain News is a free, weekly community publication found in local restaurants, coffee shops, professional offices, and community spaces across South Alberta. Everything we publish is positive, entertaining, and locally focused — from youth sports coverage to community events and uplifting human-interest stories.
What makes us different is our mission: 25% of all advertising revenue goes directly to youth sports programs in the communities we serve. When local businesses advertise with Prairie Mountain News, they're not just reaching customers — they're investing in the next generation of athletes.
Part of the Prairie Mountain Collective, we're inspired by the community newspaper tradition pioneered by publications like Coffee News, reimagined for South Alberta — with digital editions, geolocation-based local content, and transparent impact reporting.
