Calgary Youth Soccer Receives Record Community Funding

By Jennifer WalshAugust 22, 2026

Local businesses rallied together to raise $125,000 for Calgary youth soccer programs, ensuring every child who wants to play can afford registration.

Calgary Youth Soccer Association announced today that community advertising partnerships have generated a record $125,000 in funding for the 2026-27 season — enough to subsidize registration fees for over 800 families.

The funding initiative, powered by local newspaper advertising revenue, represents a growing movement among Calgary businesses to invest directly in youth athletics.

"We've seen firsthand how community advertising creates a virtuous cycle," said CYSA executive director Lisa Park. "Local businesses get exposure to engaged families, and those families get affordable access to organized sports."

Registration for the fall season opens September 1, with fees reduced by an average of 35% compared to last year.
